In 1994 we started the battle to eliminate iodine deficiency worldwide. Thanks to Kiwanis International's Global Campaign for Children, great strides have been made toward this goal. Working with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and U.S. Fund for UNICEF, the entire Kiwanis family joined together to raise funds to help eliminate the problem of IDD (iodine deficiency disorder) by supporting salt iodization, testing and monitoring, and community outreach and education.
